That time of the year again!!

Posted at 12:56 AM on March 08, 2010 Comments comments (0)

1 am... and half way through with this month's batch of orders, and just finished up tomorrow's readings for class x____x. Feels like there are never enough hours in a day...

My aunt came over for dinner today and mentioned that tax season was coming up, and asked if I had started on my forms. X________X OHH my, tax season. That is THE last thing I want to be worrying about right now. April seemed soo far away the last time I checked. Definitely nott my favourite time of the year. Ekk...

Knowing how swamped I am with school work and orders, my aunt graciously offered to give me a hand with the tax filing again this year. Its so nice of her to take the time out of her insanely busy schedule to help me! My aunt is a CPA at one of the big 4 accounting firms. I know all too well how ridiculously hectic it gets during tax season, so I am really grateful and appreciative that shes willing to help me and Pinc Stuff! ^_____^ Told you she was great! Shes always been my fav. aunt that I've looked up to since I was little. Since shes my youngest aunt, shes definitely the awesome cool + fun one that I could relate to the most.

Update: Also, as of today, there will be a halt on custom orders. With the overwhelming amount of work from school and my placement, I cannot afford to spend double the time working out custom orders v_____v As fun and challenging as they are, they will have to wait until May when things start to die down. Until then, its full steam ahead... when all I really want is for time to stop temporarily, so I can work through everything! Looks like that ain't happening... so I just gotta keep going.

Thank you as always for everyone's support and understanding! I love you all~!

gnight*

Friday night! This is the only time i can find to squeeze in some Pinc Stuff blog updating. Should really update more often so my diary isn't dead.

My aunt took me to a Chinese New Year dinner hosted by RBC (Royal Bank of Canada) last month. It was an annual dinner that bankers hold for big clients as a way of saying thank you. The Chinese community is really big, and contributes a lot to RBC, so it was a dining hall full of socialites and politicians that night. My aunt knew one of the advisors from RBC so she was invited, and asked me to accompany her. It was an interesting experience, I was dressed in business attire and i actually wore stockings to go with my skirt (how lady like!). I rarely wear skirts even in the summer, and would never be caught dead in a skirt in the wintertime with sub-zero temperatures... but I didn't own dress pants -___-" so I had to suck it up and brave the snow and bitter cold! Mom said I should really look into getting a pair of dress pants, but I find them quite unfcomfortable... I much prefer my stretchy yoga pants.

Good thing mom had me attend an ettiquite seminar once to learn how to behave in corporate/business settings. The dinner was held at the Hilton hotel, and at my table, everyone exchanged business cards. I was so happy to see my ridiculously pink cards in a stack of white, plain cards ^___^
So throughout dinner, my aunt starts to tell her friend the story of my life -__-, everything from what i studied, to my hobbies and interests. Apparently she always advertises for me (her favourite neice) to her co-workers. I can tell she was real proud~ she started to tell her friend about my business, my videos and fans, my magic, makeup tutorials etc. o__O It was quite odd hearing my favourite aunt speak so highly of me in front of others! I am so used to my mom telling me how unspeacial I was all the time. She is hands down my biggest critic.

Needless to say, my the lady my aunt talked to was bemused, and the first thing she asked me was, "How do you find time to do it all?". That was a good question. i ask myself the same thing. but really, I don't think my life is any different. Everyone's life is busy and everyone has responsibilities. Personally, I think that time management is KEY. Prioritizing things you need to do, and sticking to it so they actually get done. Speed and efficiency are also important.
.______________________________.

With one a month of school left, I am finding it harder and harder to strike a balance. I may be a fast worker, but the workload with school is overwhelming to say the least. Same time last week, i was paraying to get through this week, and now that i've finally got done with the presentations, essays, and marking, there is barely time to breath before I have to start it all over again. The amount of work my program is demanding makes me want to do nothing but crawl into bed and sleep for a week. All lessons for my month long teaching placement next month are due a week from now... but Im still running trying keep up with the courseload need to prepare for upcoming tests and exams! There are only so many hours in a week, I don't know how they expect all of it to be done... but I guess it will have to somehow.

On top of that, the volume of Pinc Stuff orders is definitely straining. I am not complaining, but i will admit that I am feeling the stress more than ever! Even the fastest hands can use a break here and there. But I can't stop now, I have to keep pushing on because I have to deliver! Literally...

Recent drama and breaks with certain people in my life may prove to be a blessing. I simply don't have time for it. Breaks between lecture are used to reply the numerous emails I get, and rides on the bus I spend marking. Only to come home with more emails and readings. The questions of post-grad still looms ahead, but that is the last thing on my mind at the moment.

I swear they try to kill you before they let you graduate. Its like a final test: if you can handle it, you get your diploma.

I've worked 5 long years for this, and i am not giving up without putting up a fight! I am going to run it hard for the next 2 months, and I am going to be on the dean's honour roll when they call my name in June!!

(crazy stressed, but writing about it made me feel better!)
ps. hope you're all doing well, and thank you as always for your patience!
xoxo

Longest 2 days everr...

Yesterday I was out restocking on supplies all morning, and returned home to start the last of the V-day orders until 2:30 in the morning. I woke up early today and worked non-stop for the rest of the day! Finally have everything packaged and ready to be sent off! ^^

Then was a grueling few hours of room-cleaning and vacuming before Chinese New Year at midnight. I hate room-cleaning with a passion, but its much easier to work in an uncluttered workspace :\

Anywayy, 1:30 am, and I'm totally spent! I hope everyone has a wonderful Valentine's Day tomorrow (technically today), and all the best for the year of the Tiger! Oh and let the games begin~! Winter Olympics kicked off today, with a stunning opening ceremony last night. Just so much going on at once! GO Canada Go!!

Plus, civic holiday- Family Day on Monday, and its also my Reading Week (aka 'Spring Break' but not really) in university. Time to catch up on work! Another 60+ paintings to memorize!

Kirstierae aka EKGbaby on Youtube contacted me a while ago and said she would love to review a few Pinc Stuff products and do a mini giveaway!

So in the midst taking X-mas orders, I made a few extras and sent them to her. She is such a sweetheart and told all her subbies to check out pincstuff.com, and to subscribe! To enter her giveaway, you have to tell her what you like on the site, and she will make sure they are subbed to me. Haha! Im not a subscribing Nazi, but that was so nice of her!!

Show her some love and sub back, say hi, and tell her hi from Pinc Stuff! ^^

Sacrifices?

"Judge your success by what you had to give up in order to get it" -Dalai Lama

This quote is reassuring. I have lost count of how many Fridays I've stayed home working on pinc stuff, and the Saturdays I've left early to work more. Being a full-time student in university with two majors and a demanding teaching practicum placement, I have very little free time. When I am not at school or studying, my 'free' time is devoted to working on PIncstuff or else there would be no way I could keep up. Its tough because that often means time away from my friends. There are times when I wish I could leave my responsibilities and go out like other 'carefree' 22 year olds. (They are not actually 'carefree', but I think the partying helps them forget their problems).

Our society has set this age for the peak of partying, and sometimes I feel like I should be spending more time doing that. But that only lasts for a few moments, because I know that what you get out of life depends on what you put into it. Life is like money, and we have to think carefully about how we spend our time. Personally, being productive is very important to me. Yes, partying is fun, but to a certain extent. I do not wish to party my life away because quite frankly, it can be a waste of time.

Pinc Stuff Made Front Page!

Posted at 11:34 PM on February 06, 2010 Comments comments (0)
Well, not exactly... Pinc Stuff didn't make front page, but the girl behind Pinc STuff, also known as the 'Milk Bag Girl', aka me did. Thats right, my milk bag video was sent in to Digg.com (Doubleviking.com) earlier this week on Feb 2nd, and the response was nuts. Within a day, the video had gone viral, and I was contacted by journalist Cathal Kelly from the Toronto Star newspaper. He wrote an article on my video and the milk bag phenomenon, and it landed on front page of thestar.com on Feb 4th, and on the frontpage of the papers on Feb 5th. The Toronto Star is the most read paper in Ontario, so if you can imagine, my phone was off the hook that day, with interviews and mentions in all the major media outlets. The video got over 27 000 hits that day, and is continuing to climb!

Me with my silly milkbag.

All the press has definitly generated a larger audience, and defintiely more traffic to PIncstuff.com. So that was my 15 minutes. Blows my mind how fast things travel. I am definitely known as the Milkbag Girl now. Maybe I should make a mini milkbag charm  ;]
